I have one in my collection and two with Hilo Lip as a parent. I don't do
anything special for the plant but I do notice that these plants seem to
drop a flower bud at the drop of a hat. I have a Hilo Lip in spike right
not and have my fingers crossed that I get to see a full spray of flowers
instead of something that looks like a pumpkin grin.

If this is true I will alas probably take Phal Hilo Lip off my wish list,
since then it sounds like it may not be worth the trouble. One of the
things
I like about Phals is that they are fairly low maintenance. Is this one a
high maintenance exception? Are there any other Phal hybrids or species
that
one should avoid unless one is willing to give them special treatment
unlike
that of other Phals?
