It's a duck thing.

Not only will they screw anything they can catch, but they will also fight
with
other birds when they're growing up. We had some ducks(mallards) and chickens
which were both growing up at the same time and we noticed that the young
drakes
and roosters would sometimes fight with each other if they got together. We
found one of the feisty young roosters dead with his neck broken one day.
We're
not positive the duck did it, but it looked likely.

That's one of the reasons I gave my pekin drake away...
He broke the necks of both of my millifleur bantam roosters. :-(

I have a runner drake and a muscovie drake right now and have not had
that problem. I've had mallard drakes and did not run into that either?
I'm surprised! :-o

I think the true mallards, not rouens that look like mallards, mostly
stick to their own kind, mate up and stick with their mate rather than
running down anything they can.
