I apologize if this is off-topic, but I could not find anywhere else
to post this sort of question.

I live in Florida, and lately I'm finding a little black insect all
over my house, especially near concentrations of sugar. 50 or so were
dead on top a case of Coca-Cola. They are tiny (about 1/10 the size of
a penny), dark-brown to black, 6 legged insect with a pointy
antenna-like head.

They seem to like eating and living inside cookies too. Does anyone
know what the name of this bug is?

I know this has nothing to do with gardens but I figured someone here
might know. Sorry for being O/T.

Thanks

I agree with Dave. You probably have weevils. Empty out your pantry
and cupboards and clean your counter tops and floor. Throw out any
grain or flour foods. When you buy new cereals, flour, and grain,
keep them in airtight containers such as jars or store them in your
freezer. It may take months to eradicate them. My mother used to
keep a bay leaf in flour/grains to ward off weevils (I guess she was
right). I'm sure eating a few weevils won't hurt anyone; in fact,
I've read that everyone eats a pound or two of bugs in a lifetime.
