Default Wanted - Flower Ideas For Sunny Position In Front Of Hedge

'Mike',

Osteospermum Jucundum would do well in that spot providing that there is
good drainage.

They flower for a long period and are striking in a sunny position, but
the flowers only open on brightish days.

I have grown them for many years in the West Midlands and have never
lost any to frost. They are unbelievably easy to propagate.

See these sites for photos. and more details.

Hello,

I would like to plant flowers in front of a hedge , biggish area to

plant.
Not sure what type hedge is but its been in situ 40+ years.

The area gets full sun for 6+ hours each day and gets wet when it

rains.

At present house sparrows use the area for dustbaths, up to 20+ at

anyone
time. The mess they make transfers to the grass area.

I would like to plant some low height flowers to bring colour to the

area
and make it difficult for the housesparrows who can then use other

parts of
the garden.

One condition is that these plants mustn't be too delicate. I lay a
dustsheet twice a year for the hedge clippings.

Any suggestions suitable flowers ?

Thanks.

Mike.
