Hi Ian,
Should be no problem to airlayer Quercus Lobata.
I have used Quercis Cerris (Turkey Oak) with good result. Timing will
depend on the health of the parent plant and also on your local climatic
conditions.Early to mid summer seems to be ok for me. Basic air layering
techniques apply. No fancy stuff. After 3-4 weeks you should be able to see
some root formation. Don't be in a hurry to take the plastic of, let the
roots develop and harden a bit.
