Thoroughly check the bottle and lines for airleaks, especially where the
tube goes through the bottle lid. We have a product over here called
Prestick, looks like gum and is used for sticking up posters etc, a nice
glob of this wrapped around the tube entering the bottle top works well.

If you don't have leaks then your yeast has probably gone off! Yes, it has
a
shelf life, buy fresh yeast, keep the packet in the fridge once opened,
you
can roll it up and seal it with a clothes peg so no air gets in
........another thing, don't use boiling water, this can kill the yeast
culture.

Forget about boiling, at anything over 105 degrees or so you'll kill the
yeast.
