Parrot feather is my veggie filter in the winter and I never see foam
when the fish aren't spawning. I pulled a few handfuls the other day
and threw it into the fish pond and the fish began eating the snails
off it and spawning on it. I saw foam then.

Another perfectly good theory ruined.
This didn't seem like the spawning foam, seemed different somehow.

It's gone now, so it will remain a mystery
