There are no options - this is the only way to remove most chances of
loss and damage. (watch out for fallen branches, snow etc breaching
your defences)

I have been down this road, and it is the only effective way. there are
(aren't there always) disadvantages, I now no longer get the frogs,
toads and hedgehogs, so I have slug problems!
