Default Mulch around pond?

cypress is good if for no other reason than it is not toxic IF it does get into the
pond. It floats so it can be scooped out. Ingrid

I would like to know if it is wise to use a cypress mulch around a pond to
cover up the dirt in the planting beds. Has anyone done this and do the wood
ships fly around, get in the pond, and cause problems. I really have dry
claylike soil and it is not pretty when it is dry. Are there any
alternatives that would wok better?

TIA
