When ladybugs hatch the 1st thing they do is fly up to 1 mile

from where
they were born.

This is a natural instinct since predators wait for the hatch

Cobblers!
When ladybugs hatch they are larvae with no wings and an
insatiable appetite.
Therefore, they don't fly anywhere - at least until after they
have matured
and pupated. Before then, they will have eaten a ton of aphids.

Some of the adults may fly away but they won't all leave as long
as there is
food for them. Incidentally, the larvae eat more aphids than the
adults do
- and those are the guys (and gals) without wings.

Go for it, I say. You could try green lacewings too.
