work. Weve just added the filter back into it now and all seem to be

fine. Thanks for your help, we are new to pond keeping but are learning

Is the filter full of water, also? Is it possible you have a return
valve
shut off? Do you use a priming pot? What happens when you fill the pot?

I'm no expert, but I think it would help to know your set up. If
your
pump
is above the water level, then you probably need to prime it and/or
purge
the air out of the intake lines. Since the filter is pressurized,
the
air
trapped in the filter is pushing back against the pump.
