Default New Grass

You will find that by spreading the seed, and then thoroughly raking the
ground, that 90% will be covered. Birds will always take some of the seed
and sowing quantities take this into account. For a small area black cotton
thread stretched across at intervals can be sufficient to frighten them.

Can anyone give me a tip on how to sow new grass without the birds
eating all the seeds??
