what about hardy geraniums? they're about to burst into flower too?

No point in dead heading individually, but once the plant has
finished
flowering, it can be worth getting rid of all the flower stems to
tidy
up the plant.

Although I love the flowers, I accept that there is no such thing as a
tidied up Papaver orientalis.
