i think you can buy them in 2" pots, so a low cost experiment if you
choose to try. they get BIG, slowly.

If you are referring to Laurus nobilis, they are commonly grown all
over southern California (zones 9 and 10) and as farth north as the
Puget Sound area (zone 8).
