Default wild rose question

Greetings -- I have a "native" rose that I planted spring before
last. It really took off this spring and has put out one long
shoot that bloomed!! (I'm so proud). My question now is, the
blooms are done, and the long shoot is looking a little peaked.
Should I prune it off? I ask because, in my experience, most of
my "natives" do best with little or no pruning (in fact, they
seem to thrive on neglect), despite the advice of many
books/websites, etc. What do y'all think? -- M9
