I wouldn't have thought so. Any possibility it could be damage caused

by
earlier pest attack (I'm guessing here)?

possible, but if thats the case its not gone on the cacti next to it. And
its just all over it. Almost like someones flicked brown paint all over

it.
If it was skin I would say it was a blister, its got that look about it.

No idea, in that case. Red spider damage is much finer, more like pepper
dust, then latr merges into and all-over covering of silvery dead skin.
Mealy bugs you would have spotted.

I will get these pics on the web site on the weekend when robs back.
Hopefully that will help.

If there's no hole in the pot, I'd certainly have it out to make sure

it
wasn't over wet down there. And I would repot now - it's plenty warm
enough.

I haven't watered it since purchase 4 months ago as I was waiting for the
repot (and to do the other 6 succulents that need it also but I have no
space till they put this greenhouse up)

Turn it upside down and drill a hole in the base of the pot. Then you
can start watering it.

oh might try that
