Default Lotus Pot Size

Will a 20 gal tub be large enough for a lotus tubor with one leaf, and one
growing point? The diameter at the base of the pot is about 16".

How deep should I make the clay?

Heather first things first. It is prefered that you don't post to Usenet in
HTML. Many readers can't view it, as Usenet is an ASCII hang out. Now on to
your Lotus...

You can plant your lotus in just a few inches of soil. The tubor needs to be
just lightly covered. You may also want to put a small piece of slate over
the tobur to protect from fish until it gets rooted. Be careful not to harm
the growing tip. Plant the tubor near the edge of the pot not in the middle.
And plant it parallel with the pot edge. Lotus tubors grow laterelly so they
need room to go around and around.
