of are Gibel carp (Carassius auratus gibelio)which are a subspecies of
goldfish. Incidently the often illegal introduction of goldfish into
lakes and rivers is threatening the viability of crucian carp (our only
indigenous species of carp) as a species because of the fact that they
can hybridise.
