The old Elsan toilet used to use Elsanol, specially made, but now it is
Elsan perfumed .

Elsanol was formadehyde with a Elsanol label on the container to up
the price.

Properly used an Earth closet works better than anything and is hygienic and
odour free, as I said, used Properly.

There can't have been many that worked properly when I was a kid.
They all stank in summer, on the plus side some were two seaters.
Threy all stank and somebody had the unpleasant task of emptying and
burying the contents of the toilet/zinc bath.

Water closets have distinct advantages over earth closets :-)
