I recently saw a most beautiful dwarf peach tree for sale with vivid deep
red leaves. It was about 1.5' tall. However, the label said that it most
likely wouldn't fruit except in rare occasions.

On a recent "open gardens" weekend in a local village, on garden had
a nectarine loaded with fruit, trained very neatly on wires on a brick
wall, facing south. Obviously it is there permanently and looked very
healthy. Can you give your peach a warm, sheltered position?
Good luck with it.
