Here's another aspect to consider: phals are epiphytes. In the natural
growing conditions, essentially all of the roots are aerial!

Also, if the "potted" roots have gone bad, consider simply mounting the Phal
with a little spag under it. Mount sideways and spritz as needed. You'll
never see crown rot!
