Default Roses in my garden

Hello fellow rose lovers,

I'm an occasional visitor here, as well as rec.gardens.edible. I garden
in Southern Ontario, Zone 6 ... b ... I think. I'm an organic gardener,
for the most part. This past winter, I had a lot of dieback, despite the
deep snow, so I had to cut all the rose canes back to about 6 inches,
HT's and Austin alike. I don't know if it was the severe pruning, or the
weather, or both, but something really worked for them. It's has been
unusally cool and wet since the spring here ... English weather, really,
and the roses have been pretty spectacular. Graham Thomas and Penthouse
have been the best I've ever seen them, despite many different kinds of
munching insects and larvae. Evelyn did well considered she got moved in
April, and Fair Bianca did fairly well in her sweet, dainty way. Every
summer I keep a photo journal of my garden, and put some of the
highlights up on my website.

This is my July Garden page:

And this is an extra page of rose shots that I've put up temporarily:

The roses are pretty much finished for the moment, and the scented
lilies have taken center stage, but they'll be back soon. If the season
is mild enough, they've been known to bloom until Christmas.

Wishing you all the lovliest of blooms,
EV
