Default Compost receptacles

Our new house has come with something that I think used to be a coal
store. It's about 3' x 3' x 3', brick on 3 sides, concrete at the base and
wooden
shuttering to the front (which needs replacing). I was wondering whether
this would make a good compost heap, or is it too enclosed? If the
shuttering was replaced with, say, wire mesh would that help? As it's
next to the house (and the neighbour's house) having something that smells
is not too appealing - is this a really bad place to put a compost
heap...?

Thanks,
Theo

I wouldn't say it's a *good* place, but not a terrible one either. The only
real problem would be drainage. If water collects in the bottom, the heap
might get a bit smelly.
