Default Rumor is alive and well!

in Israel, they could have you arrested and shot for the nasty sexist and
Anti-Semitic things you say.

For the record, Israel has a long history of free speech. Anyone who made
anti-semitic remarks in public would probably be laughed at. If he said
anything particularly inflammatory, he might be arrested and fined. If he were
not a citizen, he might be deported. If he were shot, it would be by another
Israeli, not the government.
Unfortunately, because of the power of extremely conservative religious
elements, misogyny in Israel is all too prevalent. Feminism at the grassroots
level progresses, but very slowly. If you made sexist remarks in Tel Aviv, you
would be in trouble. If you made sexist remarks in certain areas of Jerusalem
or the Arab towns, you would be considered normal.
