I have 3 Danner pumps in my pond the oldest was bot in 1997 and runs 24/7/365
to keep a hole in the ice. It is a 550gph or thereabouts.

As for filters, the above pump is in a small laundry basket filled with rocks
and after initial startup in the spring I only need to clean it once a month or
so. All my pumps are in the pond.
