|| should I cover the roots with gravel or should I just leave them in

Not sure... I think you could just put some gravel around it, cuz I've seen
it with marbles around it in a dish, so gravel shouldn't be bad.... Maybe
like some plants, not to totally cover it up, but only to anchor it....
