A gold fish can be a olive green to a dark blackish brown when a
juvenile. Most however when they get older will change to the
traditional common color, but some are known to stay their juvenile
color. I sort of like th olive color of juvenile, but it makes them
hard to see in a pond.

I suppose if you did not introduce fish into your pond, and I think it
would be rather early for your fish to have breed, but I am no expert,
you could still have foreign inhabitants brought into your setup by
way of birds or plants.

When I first built my pond it went unstocked for close to a year, and
when I had it stocked the hatchery seined it just to see what kind of
life it had, and bigger than life it had bream already in it as well
as minnows.......which I was told came from birds such as herons, so I
would think its possible eggs could have been deposited by a visiting
bird and later hatched....
