I am sorry you are having problems with your tree, but
I suspect you bought one in some sort of shopping mall
and that the rocks are glued down on the top of the
soil.

Your tree may be dead, depending on the variety. Let
us know what kind of tree and whether you are keeping
it in doors our out of doors.
