I had this issue when I first moved to New Zealand, no one knew what I was
asking for!
The "active" ingredient in rubbing alcohol is isopropanol. You can buy it
on the shelve in the us at dilution of 70% and also ~90% if I remember
right.
The only place you can get it at in NZ is at the pharmacy, pure. I ask for
isopropyl alcohol now.
