Yes, but it's hard to imagine a 220gallon pre-form is any deeper. My 200
gallon aquarium was about 20" deep, and a pond is going to have a larger
surface area.

Absolutely. In St. Thomas, I never had more than a foot of ice on my pond.

almost 4 feet deep, it has never frozen solid.

Ah - _that_ Niagara Falls, as opposed to the ugly one with Casinos, way too
many lights, and all sorts of really, really, tacky businesses.
