I have a bougy thats been blooming all season very well and has gotten an

Since you will have to protect it from cold all winter I don't think
it matters much when you prune. However, unless you can provide a lot of light
it will get leggy over winter..

How far will they bud back?

In my experience here it will bud back if you cut to one inch.

And finally can I try and root the cuttings, and whats the best method to
use on them.

I dip in rooting hormone and stick in pure vermiculite.
