That's interesting. A 5 gallon pot seems kind of small for a 3 year old
Rosemary. Do you know if your plant has become root bound and does it
still grow new foliage? Mine was half that age and the roots were
growing out of a pot more than twice that size. I use a lot of 5 gallon
buckets for planters and it would be extremely convenient, due to their
compact size, to grow some Rosemary in them for next summer.
