Bob, I might add that the next time you want to use a keiki to start a
new plant, you don't have to cut a chunk off the original cane. Just
leave the keiki growing where it is until the leaves AND roots are big
enough to be self supporting. If in doubt, just leave it there longer.
When the time comes, you can twist off the new plant or carefully cut it
off. Leave the old canes when you can because many Dendrobiums can
produce flowers on them in the future.
