The proper botanical term is "epiphyte".

None of the dictionaries on-line that provide a definition for
"aerophyte"
were botanical ones. They made allowances for use of the word by
botanical
illiterates like Peter Stupidus.

BTW, "aerophyte" is not a class in the botanical sense either.
