i agree, it all depends on the type. I have a Dendrobium Northmead x Riverdean croos that has 23 flower stems this year (all previous years only 5-8 at once) most flower stems are coming from sites where there have been previous ones, which is common in Kingianum/Speciosum types, however phal. types will generally only flower once per node.
