Because these sorts of plants are seed oriented.
all they aim to do is produce a crop of viable seed.
Not all coincide with one year, annuals do, biannuals
will go two years, produce seed and die


Some ephemeral plants produce seed and die quickly enough that if conditions
are right, they may have several generations in a year. Some others are so long
lived that it may be more than 10 years before they flower and die, for example
Agaves.
