Yes, it's a 'must have plant' if you have room for it, especially the
form Sacha recommended. Can be grown against a wall - in fact it's
probably better that way unless you are in a mildish area. Even if
it's against a wall no pruning is needed unless you must to restrict
size, in which case do it as the catkins fade and cut well inside the
bush to keep a natural look to it.
