I just left from a meeting with the ground hog. He announced that all bonsai growers in zones 6 & 7 may now start to transplant hardy deciduous trees, but warned that these transplants must be placed in a shelter, such as an unheated garage, immediately. If you don't have a shelter, he offers space in his ground hog hole, but it may be a bit crowded.
Could it be that he's looking for some nice, fresh roots to munch on?
Anyway, we thank him for the go-ahead message, and hope to see him next February again.
Marty
