Now someone should dare to say that orchids are fragile beings...
This comes from an account of a commemoration of the 228 incident, where
the Kuomintang massacred thousands of people in Taiwan:

"During the tea party, Liao also presented Ma with a Wenshu-strain
orchid from Japan that symbolizes peace. On Aug. 6, 1945, all plants
around Hiroshima in southern Japan withered when the atom bomb was
dropped, but a few Wenshu orchids only two kilometers from ground zero
survived. The orchids were later planted in the Hiroshima Peace Park.
This special orchid strain has since become a symbol of peace. Liao told
Ma that this is the first time that Wenshu orchids have been sent to
Taiwan."

Does anyone know what Wenshu orchids are? I assume some type of cym,
but who knows?
