Default [IBC] cutting bamboo in the snow

Anita discovered the other day that we have our own little bamboo grove
on the church property. I don't know the species. I suspect it's been
there awhile. One of my predecessors back in the 60's was into
ornamental plants and trees, so remnants of his gardens still remain in
the yard. I suspect this was his. I will have to look around the
grounds and see where else there might be some. It's growing in the
woods between the church and parsonage, and is somewhat shaded which
would explain why I haven't seen it before. With a surprise snow storm
this afternoon and tonight I've had to cancel out on going out
anywhere, so I decided to go out and cut down a couple of stalks. It's
about 1 1/8" in diameter at the thickest, and a grass-colored green
before curing. The internodes are about a foot in length. Since she
found this I've been thinking about making a stand or two for displays
so I figured this was a good time to do it. So now, I have two 20 ft.
long bamboo poles lying on the front hall carpet. My son is just going
to shake his head when he gets home. He's gotten accustomed to the old
man doing strange things!
