In Austin, 4 hours from the coast mind you, I tried to find Chicken Grit.
After enduring the stares that followed my trying to explain it wasn't for
chickens (not to mention I was the only one in there in shorts, with a wife
and without a hat of some kind), I was 'informed' (as the city boy I
obviously appeared to be :) 'round these parts we all use busted up oyster
shells.

Oh well...

What do they use for chicken grit? If you or a friend are going to be at the
World Bonsai Convention, I can bring you some, either starter size or grower
(turkey) size. I use the latter for conifer mix. The only drawback is that
the
bag weighs 50 lb, so you will have to find someone to take it out of my car.
In exchange, anyone who can bring me a bag of pine bark mulch suitable for
regular mix will earn my eternal gratitude.
