Hey,

I'm pretty sure you're describing Nandina or Heavenly Bamboo. It is
quite nice and I have some growing up next to the lampost by my garage.
It is simple to prune - just remove some of the oldest stems from the
ground up. This site gives some good info:

Let's go HEELS!

Hi all.
I bet everyone was out in the yard this weekend. We've been
cleaning out leaf debris, weeding (will they ever stop?!) and
general spring clearing.
What's the name of the bush that has beautiful clusters of red
berries in the fall and triangular shaped leaves? They grow
quite tall and are very common around here. I've called them
Daphne but apparently that's not right. The main thing I need to
know is how to trim them back. Mine has grown to 5' tall with
leggy stems- not very attractive.
Thanks for any info you can share.
