4. Schom. thomsoniana x Blc Waianea Leopard;
5. Blc. Cherry Suisse - bought a bunch of dug ups from C&H, hopefully one
will have good form.
Bought last year (or even earlier) and have bloomed for the first time last
or this year:
a) Schom. luddemaniana x Slc. Golden Wax "Red Wax" - posted flowers before,
look like waxy red schombo flowers and smells likes tomatoes! Got lucky I
think!
b) Kirchara Purple Mae (Epicatt. Purple Glory x Slc. Mae Hawkins) bloomed
first time this year, a long spike of 11 3.5" flowers opened rosy tan and
quickly turn to dark lavender with darker veining. Quite striking, posted
pics earlier. Again, got lucky!
c) L. milleri x L. anceps, not so novel but still risky as anceps is few
flowered and tends to pass on that trait and the one used here was a
tetraploid. Also the color was in question as L. milleri does not
necessarily give reddish flowers (e.g., Lc Pink Suprise.) First blooming
had two spikes, one with 6 flowers, a rosy color with lots of yellow in lip.
d) C. forbesii - was supposedly an alba, but turned out a light rosy green
then tan then ending in golden color. Not bad really and has a nicer than
average shape, but I really wanted an alba....
e) Slc. Tuttankamen - in crosses like this you never know how much the
bifoliate shape will dominate, in this seedling's case the C. guttata
grandparent totally dominated the shape while the the color comes from the
Slc. Mae Hawkins and C. aurantiaca grandparent. I'll have to see the second
blooming to see if it is worth keeping.

Got any pics to post on ABPO?
