I order some Mr Lincoln Hybrid tea roses that are on there own roots. I
hope they do well.

I have been trying to grow roses that have there own roots. But only the
Harrisons Yellow Rose and the Rogusta do well. I think the deer have been
eating the other roses and do not mess with these two because they are
prickly,

Grafting is generally a production technique for the wholesale grower to
get
sellable plant to market faster.

There are some modern roses that simply don't produce a good root system
and
other roses that have a VERY agressive root system that will spread beyond
most growers desire. These are often grafted to prohibit their spread.
