I was given a big old cymbidium (no name) and have divided it up to
several groups of new growth with 3 or 4 old bulbs to each new plant.
Some of the older shrivelled bulbs came away with no roots.
Optimistically I've potted them anyway, have they any chance ?

Rootless in moist conditions with minimal light there is a 50/50
chance of a dormant eye sprouting. There is a 50/50 chance of
rot setting in. Give them a month or two then throw out the ones
that show signs of rot. Hope on the others and keep checking
about every 30 days. When you see green shoots - start inching
to normal light. Remember a big change in light can cause sun
burn in plants just as it does in humans. So make the change
gradual until you are growing your baby in with the rest of the
cym.

Good luck and good growing.
