IT SHOULD BE OK TO SHIP IT NOW. i WOULD JUST PUT THE CUUTINGS OR BARE ROOT PLANT IN A PLASTIC BAG TRAP SOME AIR IN IT AND CLOSE IT WITH A TWIST TIE. THE FEW DAYS IT'S IN TRANSIT SHOULDN'T HARM IT.

Subject: [IBC] Shipping cuttings?

I was talking to my mom (who lives in Chicago) for Mother's Day and was trying to explain to her what a Portulacaria was (Baby Jade/Elephant Plant). I got the idea that perhaps I could just ship her a few cuttings, she's very adept at growing stuff. She's got gro-lights for use in the winter, and the plants could be outside in the summer. Not really sure how they'd take to the idea, but seeing as how how easy to obtain the cuttings are right now for me, not a huge loss. Anyway, my point is, what's the best way to ship bonsai? I've got a couple options, I could wait till I can obtain some more fresh cuttings and just ship her those and let her plant them, or I could take a cutting I have with roots out of a pot and send it, or I could just send the cutting pot and all. I work at Staples and have a UPS outlet there so I'd use UPS to ship. Any suggestions or thoughts?
