I just started my pond last year about this time. I threw in about 6
small bundles of anacharis to act a oxygenators. Some developed into
real underwater bushes which overwintered just fine in the pond. Now
they are blooming. They produce small white flowers that look like the
are just blooming out of the water. Quite nice.

Even some parrots feather survived the winter.

Our anacharis are also blooming. They grow like crazy no matter where we
put them - from the large pond to the small 1/2 barrels. I just picked up
one water hyacinth this afternoon. They're $2.99 here this year for a
medium sized plant. Time to start keeping them over the winter in the
sunroom again.
