Our trumpet vine has grown nicely and flowers profusely. But it sends out
runners and sprouts pop up about 6 feet from the main plant.

Brag brag brag...

This drives GF nuts and I tried using a shovel to make a circular cut
around the plant, but it didn't work. This year she cut it way back and
I'm using black plastic over the garden where the sprouts were appearing.

Oh, sure, torture me some more...

If you live in near Boston, you are welcome to come and get some sprouts,
as many as you want. It took about 5 years for it to start the
sprouting. Maybe you just need to wait longer.

As each new year zooms by, I find it harder to plant things that won't show
results for years and years and years. For instance: my horse scared 20
years off my life last night by putting his leg up to his thigh into a 10"
septic tank pipe in the ground. If I shave that 20 years off the crappy end
of my life, I'm not sure I have five years left to wait for my Trumpet Vine
to put it's little flowering ass into gear and produce for me.

Giselle (I guess I'm just going to have to find another vine that grows
faster)
