I just don't feel comfortable giving my card # to a place online I've never
done business with before. I hear so much about Internet rip-offs I'm a bit
paranoid.

I have friends who are paranoid. They have a card they dedicate to online
use. They then cancel the card once every six months or so, and get new
numbers. The credit card company understands, appreciates the dilligence.

FYI, you are protected by federal law with your credit card. "That's a
fraudulent charge" is basically magic words for "get that off my ****ing
credit card, fix the problem."

Online banking is /much/ riskier. Banks carry no such obligation. If
someone empties your checking account, the bank can decide to cover
the problem... or not. Most likely not.
