Default [IBC] FW: [IBC] Peroxide on root rot ?

Nina;

Not that I've ever doubted Jim's word, but when they're reinforced by Dr.
Nina, then they must be the gospel truth !!

Thanks Nina, I'll keep my peroxide for cleaning tools and benches.

Subject: [IBC] Peroxide on root rot ?

Howdy, Y'all! I'm here in Austin Texas for the Phytopathological
Meetings, and having a great time. Jim and Joey took me on a tour of
the Treaty Oak (looking very healthy), the botanical garden and a local
nursery. I understand that powdery mildew on J. maple is a big problem
this year in Texas, and I'm trying to find out more about the
situation- will report back. [Jim T: I got the plants! Thanks!]

Jim L. is correct- peroxide is powerful stuff, and the nursery products
with peroxides as the active ingredient (ZeroTol, for one), aren't
labeled very well to make people understand how dangerous they are.
They are useful things for cleaning nursery benches and cement floors,
but are useless in the soil, because organic material will neutralize
them pretty quickly. Soaking live roots in them may have some small
effect, but so would trimming the dead roots off by hand.

Nina, wearing red cowboy boots, unlike every real Texan.

Nina?
